Setup checklist

Get faster, steadier results

Follow these focused steps, run a fresh speed test, and compare the numbers against your goals.

Speed targets for 4K and HDR streaming

  • 25 Mbps download per 4K HDR stream prevents buffering on Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video.
  • Keep latency under 60 ms to avoid handshake delays when switching apps or live channels.
  • Wi-Fi 6 or Ethernet keeps throughput consistent for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos playback.

Set up a reliable smart TV connection

  • Place your router within one room of the TV or use a wired connection for consistent bandwidth.
  • Assign the TV to a 5 GHz or Wi-Fi 6/6E network and disable unused devices on that SSID.
  • Enable Quality of Service (QoS) for streaming apps so video packets stay prioritized during downloads.

Run and interpret your speed test

  • Open the SwiftSpeedTest on the smart TV's browser or a connected console.
  • Compare results against the targets above; if speeds dip below 25 Mbps, drop to 1080p temporarily.
  • If jitter exceeds 15 ms, reboot the TV and router, then retest to stabilize streaming quality.

Retest and log improvements

Run SwiftSpeedTest after each change. Note the download, upload, and latency shifts to lock in better performance.
