What this page covers

SwiftSpeedTest is a browser-based speed test. To respond to test requests, the service necessarily processes the network information that comes with those requests. This policy explains what is processed, why it is processed, and how long it is kept.

Information processed during a test

• Request metadata such as IP address, headers, and timestamps that are required for hosting, routing, and responding to the test request.
• Test measurements such as download speed, upload speed, ping, jitter, and related diagnostics produced while the test runs.
• Basic browser or device characteristics that are exposed in normal web requests and may affect test behavior.

Why we process it

• To run the speed test and return the result.
• To monitor reliability, abuse, and basic service health.
• To understand aggregate usage trends and improve the product over time.

Data retention

SwiftSpeedTest does not require an account. Recent results and optional labels are saved only in this browser's local storage so you can compare repeat tests; they are not uploaded as a hosted result history. You can clear that history from the speed-test interface or through your browser settings. Operational logs and analytics may still retain limited request information for hosting, security, and service monitoring, subject to the policies of the providers used to run the site.

Cookies and analytics

The site may use analytics and basic hosting telemetry to understand traffic and product performance. Those tools may set or rely on cookies or similar technologies depending on browser behavior and hosting configuration.

Product events use coarse categories and omit provider and place labels, guide-search text, shared-result values, and raw speed or stability measurements. Speed-test, bufferbloat, and internet-quality events may include the test surface, endpoint type, data mode, connection and use-case categories, broad speed or latency buckets, and responsiveness grade. Stability-test analytics may include only the selected endpoint type, duration bucket, classification, broad latency or miss bucket, and whether the tab was backgrounded. Per-probe samples and exported CSV or JSON data are not sent as product-event properties. Analytics and performance-monitoring URLs are reduced to origin and pathname before transmission, so query parameters and fragments are not included.

Installed app and offline fallback

Supporting browsers can install SwiftSpeedTest from its web app manifest. A service worker stores only a self-contained offline fallback page so a failed document navigation can explain that a live connection is required. It does not cache measurement APIs, data exports, test results, provider or location labels, or browser-local result history.

The offline fallback cache and app installation can be removed through your browser or operating-system app settings. Clearing site storage can also remove locally saved result history.

Embedded website widget

When another website uses the official SwiftSpeedTest widget, your browser requests the embedded page from SwiftSpeedTest. That request can include the same routine network metadata described above. The widget does not start a measurement until you press its start button.

Completed widget results and recent history stay in local storage for the SwiftSpeedTest iframe origin unless you explicitly share or export them. Browser same-origin protections prevent the host page from directly reading the widget's document or local storage. The host website may separately process information under its own privacy policy.

Sharing

Newly generated share links place editable result values and any optional context you entered in the URL fragment. Browsers do not send that fragment to the site's origin or CDN in the normal HTTP request. The receiving page, browser history, extensions, recipients, and messaging or sharing services can still read the complete link. Legacy query-string share links remain supported and may expose their values to request logs; copy a new link when you want the fragment-based format.

Downloaded PNG cards and single-result JSON files omit provider, custom-location, and test-server identifiers. Full history exports can contain context you entered and should be reviewed before sharing.

Printable internet connection support reports and copied report text are generated in the browser. They omit provider, custom-location, and test-server identifiers and are not uploaded as hosted reports. Opening, printing, or sending the downloaded file can expose its remaining measurement details to the software or people you choose.

SwiftSpeedTest does not sell personal information. Data may be processed by hosting, analytics, and infrastructure providers as needed to operate the service, and may be disclosed when required by law.
