What it measures

Device-to-SwiftSpeedTest endpoint download, upload, idle and loaded latency, jitter, p95 tail delay, and browser HTTP request confidence.

What it includes

The browser, test device, Ethernet or Wi-Fi, household traffic, Xfinity path, internet route, and selected endpoint all influence the result.

What it cannot prove

How to interpret your Xfinity result

Start with a wired device-to-endpoint baseline, then repeat in the room where performance feels weak. The difference helps isolate the in-home Wi-Fi path without claiming to measure the Xfinity gateway-to-network link.

Gateway placement, Wi-Fi band, walls, and device radio limits can depress a device result.

Cable-segment demand and other route conditions can change by time of day.

Upload capacity may behave differently from download capacity, so compare both directions.

An Xfinity gateway diagnostic and an independent browser test may use different endpoints and scopes.

What does this Xfinity internet speed test measure?
It measures browser download and upload throughput, idle latency and jitter, loaded latency and jitter, p95 tail delay, and browser HTTP request confidence to a selected SwiftSpeedTest endpoint. The result includes the device, local network, ISP path, and internet route.
Why can this result differ from Xfinity's own speed test?
Xfinity describes its web test as a speed-to-device test and offers separate gateway diagnostics for eligible customers. SwiftSpeedTest remains an independent device-to-hosted-endpoint measurement, so matching numbers are not expected.
What should I check first on an Xfinity cable connection?
Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi on the same device. If the wired result is repeatably stronger, investigate gateway placement, Wi-Fi band, interference, and device limits before treating the access line as the cause.
