What it measures

Device-to-SwiftSpeedTest endpoint download, upload, idle and loaded latency, jitter, p95 tail delay, and browser HTTP request confidence.

What it includes

The browser, test device, Ethernet or Wi-Fi, household traffic, AT&T path, internet route, and selected endpoint all influence the result.

What it cannot prove

One run cannot prove an outage, throttling, plan compliance, address availability, or whether the fault sits inside or outside the home.

How to interpret your AT&T result

Identify whether the address uses fiber, legacy copper, or fixed wireless, then compare a wired device result with the provider's equipment-level diagnostic. That preserves the difference between speed reaching the gateway and speed reaching the browser.

Fiber, copper, and fixed-wireless AT&T connections should not share one expectation.

Wi-Fi and device limits can hide capacity that reaches the gateway.

Copper performance can depend on the provisioned line and physical path.

Fixed-wireless performance can change with signal, placement, and local radio demand.

Is this AT&T speed test operated by AT&T?
No. SwiftSpeedTest is independent and is not sponsored by, endorsed by, or affiliated with AT&T. The page pre-fills AT&T as test context and links to provider-operated resources for a complementary official diagnostic.
What does this AT&T internet speed test measure?
It measures browser download and upload throughput, idle latency and jitter, loaded latency and jitter, p95 tail delay, and browser HTTP request confidence to a selected SwiftSpeedTest endpoint. The result includes the device, local network, ISP path, and internet route.
Why can this result differ from AT&T's own speed test?
AT&T exposes a device-speed test and a signed-in equipment test between an eligible gateway and its network. SwiftSpeedTest measures the browser path to SwiftSpeedTest infrastructure and cannot replace that equipment-level view.
Why does the AT&T connection type matter to a speed-test result?
AT&T appears in the FCC snapshot with fiber, copper, and fixed-wireless technologies. Each has different physical and capacity constraints, so record the exact service type instead of comparing every AT&T result as if it came from one network.
Can one AT&T result prove an outage or throttling?
No. One browser run cannot establish outage status, throttling, service compliance, or the exact fault domain. Compare repeated same-condition tests, provider equipment diagnostics, status information, and support evidence before attributing a cause.
How should I document a recurring AT&T speed problem?
